Logbook – Day 5 by ELODIE
Today we were able to put the sails, it is good to find again the silence of the oceanic immensity….the sea was slightly more agitated, the sun was always as burning.
The boys gave us tents to try to be sheltered during our shifts because staying under the sun is almost impossible…
We cooked this morning to make chocolate apple crumble (it was a huge success…) and veggie burgers with sweet potato fries….but the pasta porridge tonight will remain engraved, it looked like glue to plug the boat lol…
We didn’t meet many animals today, but tonight Stephanie is rowing and at each stroke we see blue clouds appearing, it is plankton, it is fascinating!
Tonight, the sky was still beautiful, half of the team enjoyed this “porridge” of pasta in front of the sunset which every evening is a moment of grace.
Finally yesterday the girls have covered 68 nautical miles which is the longest distance in 24 hours since our departure, they can be proud!
Tomorrow it will be a full week that we have been at sea, life on board is pleasant, routines are gradually being established such as the sport carried out at the front of the boat in the morning when the sun is not yet beating down too hard, at night the conversations are more natural with the rowers and the assistants which allows them to be more relaxed so their relay seems less long and less difficult.
The night has fallen, many are in bed….one more day ends in calm, the atmosphere of the night is different …and so fascinating…the plankton make the oar magical …around the rower there is a phosphorescent blue …incredible!
